PETA Strikes Back at Fur-Loving Olsen Twins

“No one would argue that Mary-Kate and Ashley could use some meat on their bones, but the last thing they need is fur on their back, especially when it belongs to someone else.” said PETA’s Assistant Director of Youth Campaigns, Dan Shannon.
Nicknaming them the “Trollsen Twins,” Peta2 is clearly slamming Ashley and Mary Kate, who have been wearing fur for years, ignoring PETA’s requests that they stop. Note the slogan below the twins’ picture, “Fur is worn by beautiful animals and ugly people.”
Eva Mendes, who is now a model for and supporter of PETA, admits that she once wore fur, too. The difference? PETA wrote Eva a nice letter, and she listened to what they were saying - and stopped.
In an attempt to get their point across, PETA has created a game where you get to dress up the two Trollsens, Hairy Kate and Trashley. What do they wear? Well, their usual furs, but with a twist. Envision this: dead dog handbags, bleeding fur coats, and other… dead animals. You can play the game here.
If you’re not convinced, here are some reasons to avoid wearing furs:
- One fur coat = 40 dead animals, who suffer violent “humane” deaths via drowning, clubbing, neck breaking, etc. These methods aren’t always effective, and some animals wake up while being skinned.
- Even fax fur or fur trim is often mislabeled and is really cat or dog hair.
- Animals caught in traps suffer for days, and sometimes escape by biting off their feet, only to die from loss of blood or gangrene.
Consider fake fur as a substitution, but make sure it really is fake fur:
- Feel: Fake fur is more rough than real fur (but much easier to care for).
- Look: Individual fake fur hair is often the same length and color, real fur varies in length and color and even has some curl.
- Price: Fake fur is typically much less than real fur. Unless the price has been dropped a lot… poor animal died for nothing.
- Faux fur is in!
