Cold Weather Clothing

As the weather goes cool, it’s time to start pulling out those sweaters and putting away those t-shirts. Sweaters are a major part of a man’s wardrobe - especially during the winter, and here are a few to consider:
The turtleneck sweater: This Eddie Bauer turtleneck is available in white, cream, blue, black, red, and brown for only $39.50. These warm sweaters have a classic, flattering cut.
The bulky, zippered sweater. This Shetland wool Irish sweater is warm and even though it’s a sweater, it has a sweatshirt feel, and is available in charcoal gray for $130.
The 1/4 Zip Sweater. This sweater is really nice - especially with the long sleeves, because it can be worn for any occasion, and they have the nice polo shirt feel, which is really sharp. This shirt is available in cream for $675 - but there are obviously other, less-expensive versions (I think this sweater’s my favorite).
I have to say, though, that I’m not a fan of the men’s button-up cardigan.
Clean Up The Look

Deny it all you want, but first impressions are key. You may think it doesn’t matter what you look like or what you wear because you’re married, dating, or at work, but it does. People do judge others simply based on appearance, and some people take time to get past that first impression. So, making the first impression the right impression is essential.
However, male fashion is a little bit tricky. Even so, here are a few tips to looking better.
1) Pants. Pants should fit, and a belt is a good idea. Baggy pants are way out. I don’t care if you’re 12 or if you’re 60, please wear pants that fit. No one wants to see your undergarments. And along the same line, a belt helps, too, especially if you’re at a nice occasion, or if your shirt is tucked into your pants. Even if you don’t need it to keep your pants up, the belt does two things: a) it completes the outfit, tying your pants (jeans, khakis, whatever) together with your shirt, making it look dressier, and b) it emphasizes the narrow part of your waist, especially good if you’re broader.
2) Shoes. Buy a pair of dress shoes - black and brown, if you can. I know sneakers are comfortable, but they’re just not made for every occasion. If you are wearing a suit - a wedding, church, Christmas, whatever the occasion - you need to be wearing dress shoes. Likewise, if are in something semi-formal (dark khakis with a nice polo shirt), your shoes can make the difference between a good outfit and a bad outfit. By all means, wear your tennis shoes with jeans, with your family, or for casual occasions, but have a nice pair of dress shoes like the ones pictured below, which are available for only $100 and come in black, brown, and burgundy.
3. Your hair. By all means, use hair product, cut your hair short and do whatever you want with it, but don’t use so much hair product where you’re like one of my friends. I could drop a book on his head and his hair wouldn’t move. And his hair was crusty and white. Not only is this bad for your hair, but it looks horrible - there’s a reason he didn’t have a girlfriend. Styling products should be used in moderation.
4. Shirts. T-shirts shouldn’t be warn on a date, at least not a first date, unless they’re the classic crew neck tee. Likewise, polo shirts are also really nice, but undo that top button. Long-sleeved dress shirts are hot, especially in solid colors. Paired with a pair of jeans or khakis, dress shirts or polos are perfect for any occasion - formal or casual. Just make sure it fits.

Tips on Buying Designer Watches for Men
August 28, 2007 | Leave a Comment
The increasing variety, style and sophistication of men’s designer watches have often left many women confused over the decision of buying a watch that would best suit their male counterparts. Keeping with some simple advice of following intuition, here is a guide to buying watches for men.
What kind of personality does he have? Is he bold, reserved, shy etc? What kind of colours and styles does he prefer? Flashy and extravagant or subdued yet classic…. Does he go for the practical and smart or sleek and glossy? Is he the corporate kind or the more hip and casual variety? Is the watch going to serve a purpose that is more than just reading time? Is he gadget-oriented? Is he an avid sportsperson? Does he like water sports or is he into other more vigorous activities?
While deciding on the above mentioned elements, keep in mind the inherent differences that exist between a man and a woman. Most men like it straightforward; desire things that meet their basic needs. However, in saying that women are far better judges in accessorizing and therefore deciding which the perfect watch for a man is, may be to her advantage. This is also because a woman, more than a male has a heightened sense of fashion, she is well-versed with jewellery trends and knows what accessories go with what wardrobe. You could very well have a man wearing his sports watch for an important corporate meeting. But the woman will know better what should be worn in a boardroom vis-à-vis scuba diving.
For most women, a watch is the perfect gift when shopping for your male friend. However, there are some concerns that one should be careful about while buying a watch. These are in terms of size, colour, style, price etc.
If your man is big in stature, he will usually prefer a big sized watch as well. There are many different types of watches in the market today and buying the right one will depend on his personality as well.
In general most men go for muted colours. Bold, flashy colours are typically not preferred by the average male. Deep blues and browns are male colours.
There are all kinds of price ranges in the market today. The kind of designer items he has in his wardrobe will tend be a good indicator of how much you should spend on his watch; whether it will be a designer watch or a casual one.
Lastly, depending on what kind of fashion statement he usually likes to make will help you to decide on how stylish the watch should be. Some classic Swiss or European brands like Cartier, Patek Philippe or Rolex are bound to impress a man accustomed to luxury and designer wear. For a man more causal or sporty look, perhaps a Seiko, Tag Heuer, or Dunhill are better suited.
In addition to analyzing your man and his personality, here are some strategies you might use for buying him the gift of a classic watch
Shop the way you always shop, online or at the mall, and simply picture him as you are looking through the watches. What will look good on him?
If you are not fully conversant with his tastes, likes and dislikes, search thoroughly and pick one from your first three choices. Follow your instinct and buy him a watch that you feel will suit him the best.
Get into his mind and try to think like him. What is he looking for - a sports related watch, casual or designer watch and then decide what the most practical option would be.

What makes a man look hot to women
August 24, 2007 | Leave a Comment
No doubt an interesting title to you guys who want to know what women are after? Quite possibly interesting to women too because they want to know what to look for in a man. The “hot or not” topic is one that has been burning since the dawn of human-kind, and it can now be answered.
Some women say jeans, some say Hugo Boss, some say nothing but a smile and attitude. The key here is that it really comes down to compatibility of taste, in some ways it is a lot like Marmite… you either love it or you want to spit it out and stamp on it.
Often women want their men sharp, clean cut and well dressed. There are even songs about such a style. This includes uniforms (can anyone say Richard Gere?) and official clothing as well as the every day business suits and crisp night clubbing wear.
Other times women are looking for the “homely” type of guy. A man that is not so caught up in his own image that he has to wear the latest brands, the hottest scents, or even worry about letting an Iron attack his shirt at point blank range. The ladies can see that because of this ‘no worry’ attitude toward clothing that you guys who dress this way should be more interesting as a person. Obviously this does not give you the porogative to give up on the essentials such as bathing or smelling nice, but it does mean you can put on a plain jumper and jeans without worrying.
There are really only 4 things that you as a guy should do - regardless of your style - in order to ‘look hot’ to the right type of woman for you.
- Get a good hair cut and keep it maintained
- Be hygenic. So do wash, cut your nails and brush your teeth etc
- Wear the clothes you want… that means don’t be naked in public!
- Be casual, don’t wear clothes that simply don’t suit your personality
Think about how you look at women and what attracts you to them. Specifically think about what ‘type’ of woman you get attracted to. Is it the cute innocent ‘geek chic’ type? Perhaps the drop dead hot model from the magazines? The short skirt with hips that like R&B? Or is it the “I would look great and really enjoy living in a farm house like The Good Life” appeal that gets you going?
Whatever it is that attracts men to women and women to men, the primary factor to keep in mind at all times is that “types” are attracted to each other. If you don’t both fit into each others “type”, then it is unlikely that you will get into a mutual relationship. Yes, this is why everyone has a “hot” and an “ugly” friend.
