Katherine McPhee Carries Ugly Boob Purse
January 15, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Katherine McPhee is one of my least favorite celebrities, and she’s just made my (mental) “bad accessories” list. She’s been carrying around the boob purse shown in the picture above. My personal theory is she’s using it to hide the fact that she doesn’t have any of her own, but I could be wrong. In any case, this purse is a no. It should never ever ever ever be worn. By anyone. Not by a normal person and certainly not by a celebrity. Even Fergie’s handbags are better.
It reminds me of those Corset Purses that were really popular a few years ago. (Picture below.) Hated those. Unfortunately, a former roommate loves them. In fact, she loves them so much she’s collecting them to display under her television. This is the ultimate sadness.
There is a reason bras and corsets are referred to as undergarments: no one is supposed to see them. So, please, if you have one of these purses and you are over 13, throw it in a box to give to your grandchildren who will laugh at it. Find something small, like a clutch, or something spacious, like a hobo bag, and get that instead. Say “classy” not “trashy.”
The Hobo Bag: Made To Stick Around
January 2, 2008 | Leave a Comment
While shopping yesterday with my roommate and my sister (hitting up some of those post-holiday sales), I saw about a million hobo-style handbags. I love the shape, that they’re compact and still have space, and that they’re sold just about everywhere. Prada (above) and Chanel (below) have them, as do most department stores.
One store, Deb, had a bright, hot pink hobo bag (that I can’t find a picture of, of course) that I liked until I noticed the metal bits where the snaps connect.
These bags were really hot all last year, and they’re probably going to be around for awhile. Clutches may be in, but they’re usually best for evening wear: not daytime wear. They hold a lot of things in them, they’re (usually) priced reasonably, and they come in all different colors. The shape is pretty uniform, but if you can live with that, you’re good to go. Personally, I love how clean-cut it is.
I really like this Prada bag. It’s expensive, at about $1000, but it’s really cool looking.
Fergie Designs Handbags: Fergie for Kipling
December 11, 2007 | 2 Comments
Fergie “The Duchess” recently designed a line of handbags, Fergie for Kipling, which she released back in September. Yesterday, she got it into her head to sign the handbags - you know, like an author signs books.
The handbags are very unique, one is designed with a domino pattern. She said it reminds her of playing dominos. Many of the others are brightly colored - to add a splash of color to clothing, I imagine.
The handbags are all “Under $200. They’re for the girls who grew up like me. They’re still a splurge, but they are, you know, affordable.” All of the bags are available at Macy’s, and range in price from $38 to $198.
Shop Your NYC Favorites at Found4Less

Found4Less has become one of my newest favorite websites. With its local emphasis on NYC bargains, the recently launched Found4Less.com is awesome. It gives fashion-conscious New Yorkers on a budget a new way of shopping and although I’m not in New York (or anywhere near the East Coast for that matter), it’s such a fun place to browse for bargains, get the latest scoop on trends, tips and tricks, that you can visit no matter where you live!
Mirela Gluck, who co-founded Found4Less and who is also a huge ”Sex and the City” fan, wondered just why it was that none of her friends had a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes, awesome handbags or the perfect (and affordable) little black dress. With a little work, she set out to change things and the result of her efforts is Found4Less.com, a web site that provides comparison shopping, product advice, information on affordable places and the latest sale locations for New Yorkers and visitors to the Big Apple.
Besides the latest NYC sales, the site also offers up advice and timely information on everything from shoes, jewelry and clothing to beauty and gadgets.
To see what expert advice and bargains await you (no matter where you live!), visit the website at Found4Less.com.

French designer Christian Lacroix opened his second store in the states earlier this week, located on East 57th Street in New York. Says Lacroix, who founded his Haute Couture house in Paris in 1987:
“I will never forget how supportive the United States and New York were at the very beginning of my career, so it is a legitimate return to my ‘American roots’ twenty years later, after my first show here.”
The store carries the Fall 2007 collection of womenswear, menswear and accessories. His Haute Couture collections, famed for ultra-luxe and artful theatricality, were joined by elegant ready-to-wear collections in 1988, followed by fantastical shoes, bags and jewelry in 1989.
