Katherine McPhee Carries Ugly Boob Purse

Katherine McPhee carries ugly boob purse

Katherine McPhee is one of my least favorite celebrities, and she’s just made my (mental) “bad accessories” list. She’s been carrying around the boob purse shown in the picture above. My personal theory is she’s using it to hide the fact that she doesn’t have any of her own, but I could be wrong. In any case, this purse is a no. It should never ever ever ever be worn. By anyone. Not by a normal person and certainly not by a celebrity. Even Fergie’s handbags are better.

It reminds me of those Corset Purses that were really popular a few years ago. (Picture below.) Hated those. Unfortunately, a former roommate loves them. In fact, she loves them so much she’s collecting them to display under her television. This is the ultimate sadness.

Corset Purse

There is a reason bras and corsets are referred to as undergarments: no one is supposed to see them. So, please, if you have one of these purses and you are over 13, throw it in a box to give to your grandchildren who will laugh at it. Find something small, like a clutch, or something spacious, like a hobo bag, and get that instead. Say “classy” not “trashy.”

Mr. Blackwell Names Victoria Beckham Worst-Dressed

Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham on the red carpet

Mr. Blackwell’s list of the top worst-dressed women list is out! Mr. Blackwell, who has been writing theses lists since he was a fashion designer in the 60’s says they’re all fun and games, and that he’s writing them to encourage fashion consciousness. This year, Victoria Beckham made the list as the top worst-dressed woman - and Britney was left off.

To those who are surprised by the non-mention of Britney’s name, Us Magazine had Mr. Blackwell’s response, “For those of you who were expecting to see Britney’s name adorn the 2007 list, I felt it was inappropriate at this time to make comment, when her personal life is in such upheaval.”

Here is Mr. Blackwell’s Top 10 list along with his comments for the top 3:

  1. Victoria Beckham: “Forget the fashion spice - wearing a skirt would suffice! In one skinny-mini monstrosity after another, pouty posh can really wreck-em.”
  2. Amy Winehouse: “Exploding beehives above… tacky polka dots below… she’s part of a 50’s car-hop horror.”
  3. Mary Kate Olsen: “She resembles a tattered toothpick-trapped in a hurricane.”
  4. Fergie (so true)
  5. Kelly Clarkson
  6. Eva Green
  7. Avril Lavigne
  8. Jessica Simpson
  9. Lindsay Lohan
  10. Alison Arngrim

And in the Fox News report, Mr. Blackwell mentioned some he felt were particularly spectacular in 2007, including Reese Witherspoon, Beyonce, Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Katie Holmes, Katherine Heigl and Cate Blanchett.

Nicole Kidman Commits Fashion Faux Pas

Nicole Kidman in silver
To the premiere of The Golden Compass Nicole Kidman committed what can only be called a fashion faux pas. The normally beautiful and stylish Australian actress wore something a little scary. I mean, I love silver, but I’m pretty sure that silver should be done in small doses, like in accessories: silver shoes, silver handbags or clutches, silver jewelry, etc.

But Nicole wore silver from shoulders to ankle, almost like the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz. A silver shirt (and it looks like she’s bra-less), with a platinum silver jacket and pants suit. Now, I’m not saying that she can’t pull off the shape, because she can - but the color is another matter altogether.

Nicole, just because your movie busted, doesn’t mean you have to, too.

Petra Nemcova and Rosario Dawson Defend Jennifer Love Hewitt

Model Petra Nemcova and actress Rosario Dawson say they agree with Jennifer Love Hewitt’s recent stance as she lashed out at the media and bloggers for ridiculing photos of her in a black bikini on the beach.

Hewitt was caught by photographers wearing a two piece black swimsuit, however it wasn’t long before Hewitt’s rear became a topic of ridicule for bloggers and the media. Hewitt addressed the issue on her own website, saying she is content with her figure, but is unhappy that comments on her weight could put young girls who are already stuggling with their own body image at further risk.

Said Hewitt on her website:

“I’ve sat by in silence for a long time now about the way women’s bodies are constantly scrutinized. To set the record straight, I’m not upset for me, but for all of the girls out there that are struggling with their body image. A size 2 is not fat! Nor will it ever be. And being a size 0 doesn’t make you beautiful.”

Model Petra Nemcova couldn’t agree more and told People.com:

“There are different angles that everybody, even if you’re in great shape, can look bad in a photograph. And printing these images is definitely influencing people’s minds - the stars themselves, but also the people who are reading and looking at the images, the teenagers. It’s definitely good that she spoke out.”

Actress Rosario Dawson agrees, adding:

“They’ll make a whole story about it if someone gains five pounds. I think there is a huge obsession with size-zero jeans, and it’s just really scary. It makes me really nervous, because I don’t know how in the world we’re supposed to be that thin unless we’re totally starving and drugging up.”

What Are You Wearing?

Have you ever looked a friend or family member and thought to yourself: “What is he/she wearing and who let him/her out of the house?”

Fashion these days sometimes takes a turn for the worse. Here are some examples of fashion gone bad. And by bad, I mean really bad. The results are a little bit funny.

Let’s take a look at Alicia Keys. Skirts over leggings or even pants are in, but I wouldn’t suggest this to anyone. I don’t even know what it is:

And here’s Carrie Underwood. Eek!

Fergie frequently chooses some interesting clothing:

And to not leave out the men, here’s Ashton Kutcher:

On the other hand, leggings, short skirts, long shirts (short dresses?) are coming back in… and there are plenty of ways to wear them… good and bad.

Stop In The Name of Pants!

Under new laws proposed by Atlanta, baggy pants that show boxer shorts or thongs will be illegal. Won’t someone please alert the fashion police!

We are heading to too much of a nanny state if we are going to be dictated to about what we can and cannot wear on a daily basis. Some of the quotes are pure classics of course:

“The amendment, sponsored by city councilman C.T. Martin, states that sagging pants are an ‘epidemic’ that is becoming a ‘major concern’ around the country.”

What gripes me most is that this “scary” fashion has been going on for many years… why only now do they think it is a good idea to make it illegal to dress this way? At least people still have clothes on!
