Wang Settles ‘Vera’ Lawsuit
December 6, 2007 | Leave a Comment
A lawsuit over the use of the name ‘Vera’ has been settled between sleek urban designer Vera Wang, and a company reviving floral scarves by Vera Neumann.
The trademark fight was set for a federal jury trial in New York next week, but the case has been settled, according to Susan Seid, who is relaunching Neumann’s designs as ‘The Vera Company’.
The case began before the launch of Wang’s line at Kohl’s department stores in September, when lawyers for Wang wanted a judge to rule that the phrase “Simply Vera” did not interfere with the stylized, black “Vera” trademark held by The Vera Company. They wanted that mark canceled, saying it had not been used enough, and to bar The Vera Company from objecting to Wang’s trademark applications, which include a simple form of “Vera.”
Attorneys for Wang had sued The Vera Company, which owns the rights to Neumann’s trademarks and designs last January. They wanted to protect trademarks pending for Wang’s new line of clothing at Kohl’s department stores, which was known as ”Simply Vera Vera Wang” but commonly referred to as “Simply Vera.”
The case was settled amicably for both sides although terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.

Pharrell Williams and Louis Vuitton.
Perhaps a strange partnership to some, but the only thing that matters is what happens in the creative process and obviously, this is one collaboration that has so far proved well for both parties, especially since forming their unique efforts three years ago.
Since then, Pharrell has managed to become the poster boy for Louis Vuitton’s fall 2006/2007 advertising campaign, teamed up with Marc Jacobs to design some fab shades, and although his jewelry line partnership with Camille Miceli for Louis Vuitton was supposed to launch earlier this year, well…Pharrell’s been busy.
Not to worry though, come January, the jewelry collection is scheduled to hit the masses with what will undoubtedly be a dazzling launch in Paris.

Naomi Campbell appears on the cover the December issue of Marie Claire Espana.
She must really like this Louis Vuitton dress she’s wearing on the cover because she also wore it to the Marie Claire magazine awards just two weeks ago - where she looked just as fabulous then as she does in this cover shot.

Alice + Olivia: Coming To A Payless Near You
November 26, 2007 | 3 Comments
How many times when watching a television show, have you thought, “Wow, I wish I could get that! I would look totally hot!” And then, the bubble burst, reality kicked in, and you realized you couldn’t afford it in a million years? The good news, is that things are changing.
With celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker, Amanda Bynes, and Venus Williams making stylish fashion affordable to the public at large, it’s easy to afford celebrity brands. Designer brands have also become easier to emulate, with H&M offering Cavalli, Gucci, Valentino, and Channel-type clothing (like what’s seen on Gossip Girls).
Designer Stacey Bendet whose design name is “Alice + Olivia” designs clothing, and made her name with pants, which are affectionately sells pants called the Stacey Pants. Stacey’s clothing has been worn by Kate Hudson and Paris and Nicky Hilton , so it’s clear she knows what she’s doing.
Now, Stacey has produced of Alice + Olivia shoes - and they’re going directly to Payless. The best part is that nothing will be over $40!
Does that sound to good to be true? This spring line is designed just for Payless, and Stacey says that they’re “imaginative” a bit like an Alice In Wonderland sequence. The line contains all kinds of shoes. Unfortunately, as the website (aliceandolivia.com) isn’t quite up yet, finding pictures is difficult, so you’ll have to use your imagination for some of this. The shoes will be available in Spring of 2008.
The shoe line includes a green patent leather shoe - tennis shoe style.
The line also includes the all-important flats, which Stacey predicts will be around for awhile. Like in the picture below, these flats have polka dots on them, and some have the flowery-type deal, as well, and they’re available in two or three different colors. Stacey said she included the polka dots in her Alice + Olivia shoes because they look cute in clothing, and she though it would be nice. There’s also a sparkly gold flat. These are only $30!
The line also includes some platforms. They’re very retro, with bright, seventies colors.
Look for this line - it’s coming soon!
