Justin Timberlake and his clothing label, Wlliam Rast, have joined forces with J. Lindeberg and will feature a new sportswear line, scheduled to be ready in the Fall of 2008. Timberlake and long time friend and business partner Trace Ayala have secured a deal with Paris68, the Lindeberg’s New York based design consultancy.

Timberlake told WWD:

“I have always admired the modern designs and sophisticated aesthetics of Johan and Marcella Lindeberg. I am really excited that we have the chance to develop these strong collections together and that my vision for a complete William Rast lifestyle brand is in the hands of two of my most favorite designers.”

Project Runway Surprise Appearance: Carrie Bradshaw

Project Runway “Bitten” Dress

Sarah Jessica Parker, aka Carrie Bradshaw made an appearance (surprise) on Project Runway as a judge. I don’t know about you, but I’m thinking that was nerve-wrecking. The show, which challenges the designers to remember that, in fashion, “one day you’re in, and the next you’re out.” I think Sarah helped bring that back into perspective.

This week, only one person didn’t receive tons of criticism: Victorya Hong with her dress and vest combination. In fact, for Sarah, it was love at first sight, and it’s already part of her “Bitten” collection at Steve and Barry’s (which also has Amanda Bynes‘ and Venus Williams’ clothing lines).

The dress is on sale for $19.98, and the vest for $14.98. Gotta love those prices!

The Little Seed Children’s Specialty Store

Speesees Organic Baby Clothing

When it comes to kids, there are always things to worry about: toxins, allergies, and what to do about them. Former Child star, Punky Brewster (Soleil Moon Frye), has opened a children’s store, “The Little Seed” that specializes in “green,” or eco-friendly products. She had a hard time finding a store that carried organic, non-toxic items she knew were safe for her children and the environment, so she decided to make sure others wouldn’t have the same problem.

Frye and two of her friends, Paige Tolmach and Beth Birkett opened the store. All three women have children of their own, and Tolmach explains their inspiration on their website (www.thelittleseed.com):

“After spending months on the web researching and buying non-toxic and organic products that wouldn’t irritate our babies’ skin, we realized that the search to find these items was shockingly difficult.”

“The Little Seed” environmentally safe and non-toxic paint, and recycled bags. Products include organic crayons and paints for crafts, non-toxic wooden toys, Kate Quinn, Fauna and Speesees Organic Baby Clothes, organic wool blankets and baby clothes, organic body products, and Jennifer Myer jewelry. These products guarantee safety for your child and the environment. And as Frye said, “It’s an opportunity to make the planet a little greener.”

Heidi Klum’s Makeup Collection

Heidi Klum “The Heidi Collection” Lip gloss, hot cocoa

Victoria Secret Model Heidi Klum recently launched “The Heidi Klum Collection for Very Sexy Makeup.” She developed the product with Victoria Hayes, the Victoria Secret Makeup Artist. “I like to develop products, period,” said Klum. “I just have the most fun in creating things and doing things… We really wanted to develop something that I love personally, but that I can see in all different women that makes them more beautiful and sexy.”

The makeup collection contains several pieces, all of which have Klum’s beautiful smile on it. The lip gloss, which Klum loves (but then who can blame her, it is her collection), is called “Hot Cocoa,” and is a nude with a slight chocolate taste, on sale for $12 at Victoria Secret.

The eyeshadow, “Beautiful,” contains four colors. Multiple colors make eyeshadow great because it adds definition and color, and these four colors work well together, so whether it’s a night out on the town or a day at the desk, this is a great addition to your makeup collection. This piece can be purchased at Victoria Secret for only $18.

The lipstick in the collection is named after Klum, because “Heidi” is a copy of Klum’s incredibly pink lips. It also has sparkles thrown in - because Klum likes sparkles. Also available at Victoria Secret, the lipstick is only $12.

The last piece in the collection is a $10 glitter eyeliner.

This collection may not have something for everyone, but the prices are affordable, and a lot of it does look really good. In any case, it’s definitely worth a look. And the hot cocoa gloss is definitely going to find it’s way into my purse!

Amanda Bynes New Fashion Label ‘Dear’

August 28, 2007 | 2 Comments

greagv.jpgToday we see funny girl Amanda Bynes bring her own fashion label to market. The new fashion brand will be known as Dear. This follows hot on the heels of fellow fashion princess Sarah Jessica Parker, who launched her line, Bitten, earlier this year.

It does seem that celebrities bringing out new fashion lines is all the rage. It was only a few days ago we broke the news to you that Venus Williams is bringing out a new fashion label due to be called EleVen. This does have us questioning the motive behind celebrities bringing out their own labels.

From what Amanda has said, she has always wanted to be a fashion designer from a very young age. She loves drawing and painting, generally she is a creative little lass. She said,

“I’ve always loved hoodies, jeans and T-shirts. That’s definitely where I jumped in and started designing at home. I wanted shirts with cute stars and hearts on them. I wanted feminine, young stuff, even though I’m 21. I still love those girlie clothes.”

It kind of made sense when it was just fragrances, but why do we now need re-branded clothing ranges? Is Amanda really a Woman who has always dreamed of being a fashion designer, or is it PR spin at the launch of another cash cow? The real question is, does this actually offer something new and exciting to the consumer? That we shall leave for you to decide.

Venus Williams Gets Her Own Fashion Label

August 24, 2007 | 1 Comment

Venus imageYou heard it here first, Venus Williams the international superstar tennis pro is to get her own clothing range under her own label which is to be known as “EleVen”. Venus explained that the brand name was selected for two reasons, her childhood address in Compton included ‘11′ plus the number means going beyond the classic “top ten.

We here at Hottogs.com are of the opinion that this is a catchy name that doesn’t sound “chavy” (for those in the UK) but still sounds as if it can swing with the youth culture of todays world in Blighty, Europe and the US.

Of course, fans of Venus are bound to pounce on the EleVen clothing label right away, but looking at the clothing range that will be coming out we are sure that many others will follow the few early adopters to turn EleVen into a big hit for Venus.

What do you think? Will you be wearing something from the EleVen range? Given some of the monstrous releases from current big brand names we have a feeling many of you will be slipping into a bit of Venus inspired clothing sooner than you might think.
