 Prada: Infusion D’iris Fragrance

Balance is everywhere, including designer fragrances. Prada has created a new perfume which is inspired by the Yin and the Yang, “a balance of harmony in a distracted world.” The scent, Infusion D’Iris, is light and feminine with a dash of Florentine Iris.

Daniela Andrier and Miuccia Prada worked together to create the “like a dream” fragrance that pushes traditional barriers of age and sexuality, but is still packaged in the traditional box-like manner. In it, in addition to the iris root, is mandarin, orange blossom, incense, vetiver and other things.

Euphoria Blossom by Calvin Klein

A new scent by Calvin Klein, Euphoria Blossom, is the first scent created by Klein to suit Asian preferences. As such, it has a number of Asian ingredients including kumquat, pomegranate, dewy green accord, orchid blossom, lotus, pink peony petals, blond wood, white amber and frosted sheer musk.

Euphoria Blossom is based on the original “Euphoria for Women” which Calvin Klein released in 2005. They are both created with sweet fruits (like the pomegranate in Euphoria Blossom), and has a citrus accent. Euphoria Blossom is lighter than the original, and it’s not a sexy scent, instead it kind of blends in with other scents.

Euphoria Blossom is available almost everywhere perfumes are sold at $36 for a 30 oz bottle.

Beauty Trend For the New Year

Makeup Trends for 2008

This year, 2007, was the year of crazy fashion, with a style that was part-70’s, part-80’s, part-90’s and part something completely different. That said, it’s hard to predict what will be stylish in 2008. But there’s one way to begin preparations: makeup.

Emphasis on the eye:

For 2008, the smokey “cat’s eyes” are in. This can be achieved with dark liner around the whole eye that goes to the far corner of the eye with an upward sweep. Eyebrows should be done with a fuller, more natural look, and the eyelashes should also be fuller and darker, which is complimentary to the darker, smokey look that’ll be in. (By the way, an extra layer of mascara will make you appear much less tired than you really are.)

The lips:

All shades of red are in for lip color, from brick red to plum reds to bluish reds and everything in-between; it’s just a matter of finding the right shade.

One thing to keep in mind, though: don’t do up both your eyes and your lips. If you’re going all out on one, be more subtle with the other. Draw attention to only one part of your face, and use a lip gloss or nudes for the other thing.

Calvin Klein Makes Beauty A Part of Fashion

Models Wearing the New ck Calvin Klein beauty products

Calvin Klein has decided to use the colors found in the clothing products in their makeup line. ck Calvin Klein creative director, Kevin Carrigan, said, “We wanted to link makeup back to fashion.” The beauty line will launch in the U.S. in January.

Basically, the beauty collection utilizes the colors that were found on the runway. Fuchsia used in a shirt could be turned into a lipstick. If that fuschia has a cellophane overlay, the lipstick might have a touch of gloss so both the color and the texture match. Navy in a shoe could become a navy nail polish.

Carrigan went on to explain, “It’s about updating the face to go with the outfits they’re wearing.”

Most of the products will cost about $20.

 Stella McCartney “Stella”

Earlier this year, Stella McCartney was named “Designer of the Year.” Stella’s self-named perfume is just one of the many reason why she won that title.

Stella made her name for being passionately against fur and creating feminine looks using floral designs from wispy cottons that even the celebs like: Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kate Moss. The femininity found in her clothing has translated to her perfume, but added something as well.
Stella said, “I wanted to capture the fragility of the high summer rose when the petals are just about to fall off. It’s not about skipping around the country in a frilly skirt on a summer day.” The contrasting scents of rose and amber fused to make a rich and sensual “intense femininity.”

L’Homme By Yves Saint Laurent

“L’Homme”, the new Yves Saint Laurent fragrance is for the modern man who is the essence of style and sensuality. The scent is bright and fresh, and develops into the sensual. The contrasts make this scent unique and wearable.

The scent is woody in nature with cedar, basil, sandalwood and amber, but the bergamot, ginger, citrus, violet leaves and vetiver make you think more of “art” and “luxury” than “rough” or “outdoors.”

This masculine floral scent is fronted by French actor Olivier Martinez. According to one of the scents’ creators, Pierre Wargnye, “When you bring a touch of femininity to a very masculine scent, you increase its sensuality.”

L’Homme is a very reasonable $20 to $70. There are thousands of scents for females, and every girl wants her man to smell good.

Deep Calm Bath and Shower Oil

In the over-stressed, over-worked culture we live in, it’s easy to get stressed out and not to do anything about. Now, it’s your turn to take care of yourself. I’ve never been a big supporter of the aromatherapy type stuff because I’ve never seen that it actually works.

However, all the reviews of the Deep Calm Bath and Shower Oil are in consensus: it really works. The lavender smells and feels relaxing, and combined with Vertivert and Camomile, it works wonders. With just a small capful of the organic oil, you will be able to relax and unwind. The product is safe, soothing and antibacterial.

The $60 product is available online.  Later, you can use some Heidi Klum makeup to finish the job. So, go ahead! Pamper yourself!

Keira Knightley is now representing Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle. The young actress is perfect for Chanel, because she’s young and sweet, beautiful and “pure” as they come. She has a clean role, and people look up to her, which is just what Chanel wants representing his/her fragrances.

Keira shot photos - which are now everywhere - for two of the limited-edition scents, Purse Parfum and Solid Perfume, both of which are part of the Cambon collection. Coco Mademoiselle Purse Parfum is about $120, and Solid Perfume is about $175.

In addition to endorsing Chanel’s perfume, she’s also wearing their diamonds promoting her latest film, Atonement, which is set in the 30’s.

Found4Less has become one of my newest favorite websites.  With its local emphasis on NYC bargains, the recently launched Found4Less.com is awesome.  It gives fashion-conscious New Yorkers on a budget a new way of shopping and although I’m not in New York (or anywhere near the East Coast for that matter), it’s such a fun place to browse for bargains, get the latest scoop on trends, tips and tricks, that you can visit no matter where you live!

Mirela Gluck, who co-founded Found4Less and who is also a huge ”Sex and the City” fan, wondered just why it was that none of her friends had a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes, awesome handbags or the perfect (and affordable) little black dress. With a little work, she set out to change things and the result of her efforts is Found4Less.com, a web site that provides comparison shopping, product advice, information on affordable places and the latest sale locations for New Yorkers and visitors to the Big Apple.

Besides the latest NYC sales, the site also offers up advice and timely information on everything from shoes, jewelry and clothing to beauty and gadgets.

To see what expert advice and bargains await you (no matter where you live!), visit the website at Found4Less.com.
